Congratulations to Kathleen Wigley who was selected as the July “Volunteer of the Month” for The Commons Center For Food Security and Sustainability in Silver City. Kathleen was recognized for her years of volunteering and for her help with packing bags for the Alimento School Food Partnership and for restocking the Choose Your Own Pantry. She was also recognized for her lasting dedication, hugs and her great organizational skills.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation District One Office is inviting the community to attend the in-person public information meeting for the US 180 Safety Improvement Project this evening, July 24th. The purpose of the meeting is to present project details, expected traffic impacts, construction phasing, implementation timelines and to take comments and answer any questions community members may have. The meeting will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center. Community members are encouraged to attend to express their thoughts and opinions.
During the July Grant County Prospectors meeting a special ceremony was held to recognize members Julie Morales, Priscilla Lucero and Wayne Sherwood for their services and to officially “Pass the Gravel”. Ms. Morales was recognized with the “Distinguished Past President’s Award” for her over 25 years of service and for five times serving as President. Mrs. Lucero received a crystal trophy and was recognized for her countless hours of dedicated service to improving the lives of so many in Grant County and Mr. Sherwood was recognized for his outstanding leadership as President in 2023-2024. Congratulations to all three members and thank you for your service to the community.
