The crew successfully secured all the pieces in place, and in two weeks, they will return to San Lorenzo to complete the project by mosaicking the background.
During the Grant County Commission meeting, the Planning and Community Development Department Director provided an update on several ongoing projects. The department is overseeing the installation of an underground storage tank at the Upper Mimbres Volunteer Fire Department to serve as a water reserve for fire emergencies, allowing tanker trucks to fill up and respond more efficiently. Additionally, the department is in the process of removing old asphalt on North Hurley Road to reconstruct the road and install swales to improve surface water diversion and address drainage issues. The department is also working on renovating the former Aldo Leopold Charter School building, located across the parking lot, to transform it into the new Public Safety Building.
The Silver City Food Co-op generously donated the funds raised through their December “Round Up Program” to Literacy Link-Leamos’ “Let’s Read Project.” The Let’s Read Project plays a vital role in enhancing the well-being of Grant County by providing elementary school children with books to take home and keep. This partnership between the Silver City Food Co-op and Literacy Link-Leamos underscores a mutual commitment to fostering education and enriching lives in the local community.
