The New Mexico Department of Transportation recently held a stakeholder meeting to discuss a state proposal for the Hudson Street–Silver Heights Boulevard intersection as part of the U.S. 180 Corridor Safety Scoping Project. One proposed modification at the N.M. 90 and U.S. 180 East intersection would prohibit drivers traveling on Hudson Street from proceeding straight onto Juniper Street in an effort to reduce accidents and improve overall traffic flow. A public meeting is scheduled for Feb. 19 to provide additional information and gather community feedback.

The Associated Students of Western New Mexico University (ASWNMU) is formally seeking state funding to establish the ASWNMU Learning Hub, a project designed to modernize the university’s academic infrastructure and strengthen student support services. The proposed Hub would centralize key resources—including student tutoring, the Writing Center, and the Math Café—into a single, accessible location to reduce barriers to assistance and promote a culture of academic support. The goal is to create a centralized “one-stop” model that will improve student retention and graduation rates while better connecting classroom instruction to professional success.
