The completion of improvements to 32nd Street in Silver City have been delayed due to an underground utility cable being damaged during construction. The cable, located at the intersection of Fowler Avenue and Leslie Road along with a new city sewer line east of Silver High School is currently being replaced and Fowler Avenue is expected to be open by December 8th while the improvements on 32nd Street are set to resume on January 4th. Due to precipitation falling well below average this year, the Gila National Forest is reminding visitors to be careful when building and extinguishing campfires. Some fire safety tips recommended by the Gila National Forest, is to clear all flammable material away from the fire for a minimum of 5 feet in all directions, do not make a campfire in windy conditions, drown your campfire with water and stir with dirt making sure all burned materials are extinguished and never leave your campfire unattended.
