Silver City’s Pick It Up-Toss No Mas would like to thank all the volunteers who dedicated their time during the November “Cleanup Day” event. Thanks to the efforts of 41 volunteers, a total of 102 hours was spent cleaning the community, resulting in the collection of 1,060 pounds of litter and debris from locations such as Big Ditch Park, Waterworks, Little Walnut and Virginia Street Park. The volunteers’ hard work not only exemplifies the spirit of community involvement but also the importance of maintaining a clean environment, making Silver City a safer, cleaner, and more beautiful place for everyone to enjoy.

Western New Mexico University will host a “Jingle and Mingle” event this Friday, December 6th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the WNMU Regent’s Square. The event will feature music, entertainment, children’s crafts, seasonal treats, and more. It is free and open to the public, offering a festive atmosphere for all attendees.

During the Village of Santa Clara’s Regular Meeting, the Village Administrator announced that students from Aldo Leopold Charter School will be assisting in removing rocks from the buffer areas. The village has received a $7,500 grant from the Clean and Beautiful program, which will be used to plant shrubs in these areas. Additionally, trees will be planted on the opposite side of the street, with some also being placed in various lots and the cemetery, along with decorative grasses such as pampas grass. A survey will be conducted with residents prior to the tree planting.
