The Gila Community Foundation announced that, thanks to the generosity of local residents, it raised $45,518 to support Trout Fire recovery efforts. These contributions have already made a significant impact, with $22,071 disbursed for emergency lodging, meals, and essential supplies for evacuees, including the purchase of refrigerators for residents in Mimbres and Lake Roberts affected by extended power outages. In addition, the Foundation funded the replacement of a burned well at the Lake Roberts General Store, restoring vital water access to the community.
The Village of Santa Clara will hold its regular meeting on Thursday, August 14, at 5 p.m. at Santa Clara City Hall. The agenda includes discussion and possible action on Resolution 2025-24, adopting the Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan; Resolution 2025-25, adopting the Village of Santa Clara Comprehensive Plan Update; the Mayor’s Report; a public comment period; and a closed session. Residents are encouraged to attend and participate in sharing their perspectives and ideas.
The City of Deming is implementing improvements to Gold Avenue aimed at enhancing safety, functionality, and overall appeal for residents, visitors, and businesses. Planned enhancements include the installation of a raised center median to reduce turning conflicts, a new lane configuration to calm traffic and improve safety, updated striping to provide one travel lane in each direction, and improved buffering to increase the space between parked vehicles and moving traffic. These upgrades are designed to improve traffic safety, optimize parking, and create a more welcoming environment.
