Lordsburg will be having a Town Hall Meeting tomorrow, April 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lordsburg-Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce to discuss “Social Issues”. Guest speakers will be discussing city projects, crime, economic development, code enforcement, animal control and more. The public is encouraged to attend.

Meet your commissioners and have your voice heard by joining The New Mexico State Game Commission during their workshop and public listening session on April 19th in Silver City at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center beginning at 8:30 a.m. The commission is proud to welcome a full complement of seven members representing all districts and interests which includes newly appointed Dr. Sabrina Pack as District 2 Game Commissioner for Catron, Socorro, Grant, Hidalgo, Luna, Sierra, and Dona Ana Counties. During the event, the commissioners will hold a public listening session to learn about constituent needs and interests. Some anticipated topics will include the Elk Private Land Use System (EPLUS) and the Mexican Gray Wolf Program. The agenda and final details are now available on the New Mexico Game and Fish website. The commission invites you to attend and provide input. 

Congratulations to Jose Barrios Elementary School Nurse Amy Potts who was selected as “Staff Person of the Year” by the Silver Consolidated School District. Mrs. Potts was recognized for her compassion and dedication to the wellbeing of every student, staff member and parent. She was also recognized for going above and beyond every day to ensure everyone is not only healthy but also happy, cared for and supported in every way possible. The County of Grant has declared the week of April 14th to April 20th as “National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week” to honor the dispatchers at the Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority. Day in and day out the dispatchers help with emergencies, guiding individuals through some of the toughest moments of their lives. The county would like to thank the dispatchers for their hard work, dedication and the invaluable service they provide to keep the citizens of Grant County and the community safe.
