Tomorrow, September 17th, over 20 PNM employees will volunteer their time to support local community projects across southwest New Mexico. Employees will visit the Indian Springs Ranch in Mimbres where the team will assist with tree thinning, weed removal, landscaping tasks, and hauling away unwanted vegetation or debris. That same day, PNM employees will also provide assistance at the Deming Senior Center, where they will perform yard work, clean parking areas and windows, remove weeds, and potentially repaint designated handicap parking spaces.

At the recent Grant County Commission meeting, officials finalized budget adjustments for fiscal year 2026 and approved significant property tax increases. The increases stemmed from a state-mandated mill levy adjustment that the county is required to adopt. Overall, the net change amounts to approximately 25.2 percent for residential properties and 18.1 percent for nonresidential properties. Exact rates vary depending on whether a property falls within the 1-IN or 1-OUT taxation district—both of which contribute to funding Silver Schools.

The Bayard City Council will hold its Regular Meeting on September 17 at 4:30 p.m. at Bayard City Hall. The meeting will also provide an opportunity for public input.
