Happy Halloween!!
In Halloween News: Animas High School will be having a free “Halloween Carnival” and “Trunk or Treat” tonight, October 31st. They will have games, candy and will be giving out a prize for best decorated Trunk or Treat vehicle. The carnival starts at 5:00 p.m. with the Trunk or Treat following at 6:45 p.m. Both events will take place at the Animas High School parking lot and gym.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will be having a free “Community Trunk or Treat” and Halloween Dance this evening, October 31st at the Grant County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building in Cliff. There will be cash prizes for best couples costume, most original, funniest and scariest costume. Trunk or Treating will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the dance taking place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Congratulations to The Silver High School Fighting Colts Marching Band who became “Class C Champions “at the New Mexico State University Tournament of Bands competition in Las Cruces this past weekend. The band played a variety of different pieces which earned them first place for best performance, visuals and best percussion.
The Silver City Rotary Club is now accepting applications for their 2024 Rotary Scholarship Competition. The scholarship awards are available to graduating high school seniors who are planning to attend a college or university in an academic or vocational program or who plan to attend a vocational or trade school. Students who apply for the scholarship must have a 2.5 GPA, should be able to demonstrate a commitment to their proposed field of study and should have a history of community service or leadership in the spirit of the Rotary’s motto: “Service Above Self”. The Silver City Public Library will be hosting an “Open Technology Lab” where staff members will be assisting with information on free library digital services. The lab will take place tomorrow, November 1st from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and all those interested in learning more about what the Silver City Public Library has to offer are encouraged to attend.
The Village of Santa Clara would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time and efforts into the “Clean Up Day Battle” contest that took place this past weekend. A special thank you to Cindy Sias, Dreymond Roberts, and Josie Roy who were the big winners of the contest. Mrs. Sias picked up 45 bags of trash, Mr. Roberts picked up 40 bags and Mrs. Roy picked up 25 bags of trash winning them each $100. Congratulations to all three winners!
