The City of Deming has commenced construction at the intersection of Gold Avenue and Pine Street as part of the Gold Avenue Construction Project. This project involves the installation of new traffic signals designed to enhance safety and improve traffic flow through the intersection. During construction, Spruce Street will remain closed to eastbound and westbound through traffic, and Pine Street will be reduced to a single lane in each direction. The construction work is anticipated to continue for approximately two months.

In New Mexico news:

New Mexico families are projected to save thousands of dollars on child care in the coming years as the state becomes the first in the nation to implement universal child care. Beginning November 1, income requirements for subsidized child care will be eliminated, making assistance available to all families regardless of earnings. At the same time, the state will introduce an “enhanced reimbursement rate,” through which child care assistance funds will be directed straight to the providers chosen by parents. Reimbursement rates will vary based on factors such as the child’s age, the type of care facility, and the quality of care provided. These higher rates are designed to help providers offset operational costs, attract and retain qualified staff, and enhance the overall quality of early childhood education across New Mexico.
