Congratulations are in order for Mardi Grissom and Jose Yanez, the Village of Santa Clara’s October winners of the “Beautiful Yard of the Month” award. The couple was recognized for their beautiful home, which features a vibrant array of roses and flowers, a native landscape, rain barrels for water harvesting, and native grasses that turn emerald green during the rainy season. In appreciation of their efforts to enhance the beauty of their yard and neighborhood, Santa Clara Mayor Lopez presented the couple with a gift certificate.
During the month of October, The Grant County Youth Murals Program has been actively working on the bird sanctuary project at Bear Mountain Lodge. Tiles created during the summer camp are currently being glazed and will be used to decorate the windmill tower, which is in the process of installation. Additionally, the final concrete details have been applied to both the owl and roadrunner sculptures, with work on the owl sculpture scheduled to commence this week. An important aspect of the project involves fencing the pond area, for which crew members are sourcing materials by adhering to their recycling efforts, utilizing collected metal bed frames. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of the month.
