Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has announced that a variety of rural health care organizations across New Mexico are set to receive a total of $5.4 million from the Rural Health Care Delivery Fund to improve access to health services in underserved areas of New Mexico. This announcement marks the first allocation from the $46 million fund, which was championed by the governor and the legislature during the 2024 legislative session. The initiative is designed to address the unique challenges faced by rural health providers, such as geographic isolation and financial barriers. The initial funding will support critical services, including maternal health care, behavioral health programs, and the expansion of primary care. Additional funding from the $46 million fund will be announced in December, further enhancing access to primary, maternal, behavioral, and specialty care throughout the state.
