The New Mexico Department of Transportation has named the Silver City Patrol the statewide 2025 Ben Lopez Memorial Best Patrol winner. Scoring 151.7 points, the patrol earned top honors among six competing districts. Judges traveled across New Mexico to assess each patrol’s cleanliness, organization, equipment maintenance, roadway management, and overall operations. Throughout the evaluation, the Silver City team stood out for its exceptional equipment upkeep, rapid emergency response, skilled repair of fences and guardrails, effective management of unpaved roads, and its ability to tackle hazardous conditions ranging from fires to flooding.
