The Bayard Public Library is excited to host a week of engaging, hands-on Spring Break programming going on now through March 21st. Highlights include clay pinch pot making and painting, as well as a drama workshop designed for children and teens aged 1 to 18. With funding from the New Mexico Clean and Beautiful Program, the Gila Resources Information Project is seeking enthusiastic youth interns for their Spring 2025 Internship focused on the Big Ditch Park Revitalization. Interns will assist with native plant restoration, park improvements, and general maintenance efforts, contributing to the enhancement of this valuable community space. The internship runs from April 1 to May 31 and requires participants to complete between 40 and 60 hours of work. In a tribute to courage and commitment, the Silver City Firefighters IAFF Local 2430 proudly named Jerry O’Neal as “Employee of the Month.” Displaying extraordinary bravery, Mr. O’Neal recently risked his own safety to aid a fellow community member while off duty, embodying the true spirit of selflessness. His actions embodied the spirit of service and moral values that define Silver City.
In Deming news:
As a reminder, The City of Deming has announced that construction on Phase 3 of the 8th Street multi-use path is scheduled to begin in the first week of April. This phase of the project will take place on the south side of Maple Street to Slate Street, as well as on the west side of Slate Street to Hemlock Street, extending to Nacio H. Brown Park. Although no lane or road closures are expected, motorists are advised to exercise caution to ensure the safety of the construction crews. The construction is anticipated to last between 6 to 8 weeks.
