During its regular meeting, the Silver City Town Council approved a resolution supporting an application to the Colonias Infrastructure Fund, a state program aimed at benefiting rural communities in southern New Mexico. If the application is successful, Phase One of Swan Street construction is expected to begin in spring 2026, starting at 32nd Street and extending north. The construction will include the street, sidewalk, gutter, and a bike lane. The Colonias grant, if awarded, will be used in conjunction with the remaining funds from a Transportation Project Fund grant, which has already supported the 32nd Street and Little Walnut Road projects.
