The American Legion Bataan Post 4 in Deming will be having a “Flag Retirement” ceremony on Wednesday, January 3rd from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The ceremony will be to retire flags that are no longer serviceable and will take place at 619 West Spruce Street in Deming. 

The Preceptor Tau Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Grant County assisted many organizations and had many accomplishments during 2023. They were involved in various service projects which included donations to El Refugio, Supporting People In Need and Wreaths Across America. Chapter members also distributed treats and gifts to Veterans at Fort Bayard Medical Center and donated beanies and gloves to the Silver City Gospel Mission. Aside from service activities, the group participated in local cultural events and community activities.

The City of Lordsburg will be having a “Public Input” meeting this Thursday, January 4th to give community members a chance to give their input on the Lordsburg future Comprehensive Plan. The meeting will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and then again from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Lordsburg Civic Center. For more information, contact the City of Lordsburg.

 As a reminder, The New Mexico Lottery is still accepting entries for their cookbook competition that is offering New Mexicans a chance to win $1,000. The competition was created in preparation for a 2024 Scratcher that will feature a celebrity chef. New Mexicans ages 18 and older can enter their original recipes for a chance to win prizes and be featured in the “Lottery Favorites Cookbook”.
