The League of Women Voters of Southern New Mexico (LWVSNM) is currently accepting nominations for the 5th Annual Making Democracy Work Award. This award honors individuals in Southern New Mexico who have made significant contributions through outstanding projects or activities that support and strengthen democracy. Nominations should include a description of how the nominee’s project or activity has positively impacted democratic engagement. Submissions are being accepted until February 7th. The Town of Silver City has announced that “The Warming Center “ will be open today, January 21st, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. While not a shelter, the facility offers a place to stay warm, enjoy a hot meal and drinks, and access restroom facilities. The center is located at the former Rec Center at 1016 North Silver Street and is open to all those needing a place to stay warm.

The Grant County Community Health Council will have their next meeting tomorrow, January 22nd, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business & Conference Center.
