The Bayard Public Library will offer Winter Break Programming daily during Cobre Consolidated Schools Winter Break, with the exception of the holidays when the library will be closed: Tuesday and Wednesday, December 24th and 25th, and Wednesday, January 1st. The programming will include activities such as story time, crafts, snow globe making, fireworks crafts, finger painting, and much more. All ages are welcome to participate in these events. For more information on specific times and days, visitors can check the Bayard Public Library’s Facebook page.

Silver Consolidated Schools is excited to announce that the Public School Facilities Authority (PSFA) has approved the district’s standards-based request for the complete replacement of Cliff Combined School. The approved project will be implemented in two phases. Phase 1, Planning and Design, will involve programming, scope definition, and the creation of construction documents. Phase 2, Construction, will begin after the completion of Phase 1, at which point the district will return to the Public School Capital Outlay Council (PSCOC) to request Out-of-Cycle funding for construction. This decision addresses significant facility challenges and demonstrates the district’s ongoing commitment to providing a safer, more efficient learning environment for both students and staff.

Finally, we turn to the history of Christmas Eve:

Christmas Eve has its origins in Christian traditions and is observed as the night before the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. The observance of Christmas Eve dates back to the early centuries of Christianity, when the Church began to celebrate the nativity of Christ on December 25th. In the fourth century, Pope Julius I officially designated this date as the birth of Christ, and the tradition of observing the night before Christmas became common. Over time, Christmas Eve developed into a time for family gatherings, religious services, and festive celebrations. Many cultures around the world celebrate Christmas Eve with various customs, such as attending midnight Mass, sharing meals, and exchanging gifts, all in anticipation of the joyous holiday of Christmas.
