Deming Public Schools has initiated a new fencing project at the Smith Administration Building, beginning with the demolition of the existing structure. Gila Regional Medical Center will host two Community Town Hall meetings to provide important updates and engage with residents. The sessions, scheduled for August 21 at the Grant County Business and Conference Center and August 26 at the Cliff School Gym, will begin at 6 p.m. each evening. Topics will include hospital updates, community education, the Community Benefit Report, and an open question-and-answer session. These meetings aim to keep the community informed and involved in the hospital’s ongoing initiatives.
Two local 4-H members, Reece and Rowan McSpadden, recently competed in the American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Championship Horse Judging Contest in Oklahoma City. The national event brought together more than 160 contestants, and both Reece and Rowan placed strongly in the limited division. Reece earned 8th in Halter and 9th Overall, while Rowan placed 10th in Performance, 11th Overall, and 11th in Halter. The youth were coached by their mother, Caitlin McSpadden, and recognized by Grant County Cooperative Extension Director Jessica Massengill, who praised their commitment and representation of the community.
