In New Mexico news:
Amid unseasonably hot weather and increasingly dry fuel conditions, the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Forestry Division has enacted statewide fire restrictions across New Mexico to reduce the risk of wildfire starts. The state forester has prohibited activities on non-municipal, non-federal, and non-Tribal lands, including smoking, fireworks, campfires, prescribed and open burning, agricultural and debris burning, and gas flaring related to oil and gas production; these restrictions will remain in effect until rescinded. Visit the website for a complete list of restrictions and allowable exceptions.
