During their meeting last week, the Western New Mexico University (WNMU) Board of Regents approved updates to university handbooks, accepted a financial certification, and reviewed performance goals by WNMU President Shepard. In his report to the board, President Shepard reported steady enrollment numbers similar to last fall’s and discussed his 2024-2025 goals, including an objective to increase student persistence by two percent. He also pointed out that traditional retention metrics focus mainly on first-time, first-year students and suggested that measuring persistence would more accurately reflect the achievements of working adults and the diverse student population.
