In New Mexico news:
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that New Mexico will provide $30 million in emergency food assistance beginning November 1. The initiative aims to ensure that low-income children and families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities continue to receive essential food benefits amid the ongoing federal government shutdown. The New Mexico Health Care Authority will distribute the state-funded benefits directly onto existing EBT cards for eligible residents. These funds, which are separate from federal SNAP allocations, are intended to help feed New Mexicans through approximately the first 10 days of November.
