Tomorrow, November 22nd Silver Schools will be providing nourishment boxes to support families throughout the week of Thanksgiving, with a focus on sustaining them during the holiday week. In an effort to meet the needs of as many families as possible before the upcoming holiday break, the following guidelines will be in place: only one box will be distributed per vehicle, and boxes cannot be distributed early or held for pickup at a later time. The distribution of boxes will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Silver Schools Administration Building.
The Silver City Public Works Department has announced that phase four of the Little Walnut Road multi-year street improvement project is currently underway. This phase begins just north of Chavez Lane and will extend southward to Jack Frost Drive, covering roughly half a mile. Planned improvements include new paving, curb and gutter, ADA-compliant sidewalks on the west side of the street, bike lanes, and the installation of new box culverts at Cottonwood Creek to enhance drainage and safety. The project, which was funded by Colonias Infrastructure monies as well as from the state Department of Transportation, is expected to be completed by mid-February.
The Silver High School and La Plata Middle School Cyber Security teams earned impressive recognition in recent competitions. Silver High School Team 17-2829 secured 2nd place in New Mexico with an outstanding score of 184, while Team 17-2830 placed 4th in the state, scoring 173 points. La Plata Middle School Team 17-2819 achieved a remarkable score of 137, becoming the only middle school team in the state to participate. These accomplishments highlight the dedication, skills, and teamwork of the students from Silver Consolidated Schools. Congratulations to all the students who competed.
