The Santa Clara Board of Trustees voted unanimously during their recent meeting to adopt the Grant County Affordable Housing Plan, along with a notice of intent to adopt a village affordable housing ordinance. Through grants, the plan will allow the Village of Santa Clara to purchase property for affordable housing and help homeowners with home repairs and renovations. Although the plan has been approved, it is still in its early stages of development and will not fully take into effect until all plans are approved by the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority.

The public is invited to the BLM upcoming meeting of the Southern New Mexico Resource Advisory Council, known as RAC, to be held in Las Cruces, June 6th. These meetings are incredibly important for public input regarding public land management decisions. There is a 12-member Southern New Mexico RAC board, of which I, Sabrina Pack serve, as an appointment from the U.S. Secretary of the Interior. I invite you to this meeting where we will be hearing from the various BLM Districts and have a discussion of land access issues in Southern New Mexico to public land. There will be a vote on Las Cruces recreation fee increases. Again this RAC meeting, which is open to the public and for public comment, is June 6th, starting at 8am at the BLM office at 1800 Marquess Street in Las Cruces. Attending by Zoom is also an option. Getting involved is a way to be part of solutions. For more information feel free to call the station or go to the BLM website announcements for our region.
