During its regular meeting, the Bayard City Council took another step toward completing the takeover of approximately 675 acres purchased from Foy Inc., part of a nearly 700-acre acquisition finalized in January. The Council approved a notice of intent to adopt an ordinance to annex the property, initiating a public comment period of two weeks. This resolution, which would bring the land under the governance of the City of Bayard, is scheduled for consideration at the Council’s upcoming meeting on June 18.
The City of Lordsburg has announced that its water system recently exceeded a drinking water standard. While this incident does not constitute an emergency, officials emphasize the importance of keeping the public informed. Routine monitoring for drinking water contaminants revealed that fluoride levels in the system continue to exceed the maximum contaminant level (MCL) of 4.0 mg/L, based on a running annual average (RAA). The City is actively working to address the issue and ensure water quality meets all regulatory standards. For additional information, residents may contact Mayor Glenda Greene at 575-542-3421.
