The City of Deming will be having a public input meeting tomorrow, May 24th regarding the City of Deming Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan. The City is seeking public input from community members regarding community projects that can be considered by the Deming City Council. The meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the City of Deming, located at 1275 East Pine Street.
Congratulations to Deming students Ashlynn McGinnis and Luis Armendariz Jr. who both qualified for the NASP National Tournament that will be held next month under the sanction of the National Archery in Schools Program. Ashlynn has been involved in archery since the age of 10 and has competed at the state, regional and national levels, placing first in her division at the Western Nationals. Luis started archery in middle school and recently competed in the Western Nationals as well, where he came in 7th in the 3-D shoot and placed 15th out of 350 middle school boys, qualifying him for the upcoming national tournament. Good luck to both students at the national tournament.
The Santa Clara Splash Pad will be opening up this Saturday, May 25th to the community. It will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. everyday of the week throughout the summer. The splash pad is located at 317 Fort Bayard Street and is free and open to the public. For more information contact the Village of Santa Clara.
The “Wellness Rooms” at Stout Elementary, La Plata Middle School and Silver High School will remain open to all students during summer program days and hours. Students who are not enrolled in the summer program but would like to use the rooms, will need to stop by the front office of either La Plata, Stout Elementary or Silver High School to sign in before entering the Wellness Room. The rooms will be open Monday through Friday starting June 3rd through June 20th.

The New Mexico Department of Health is expanding its ability to help those suffering from opioid use disorder. Starting this week, more that 30 public health offices will be offering medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use available both in person and via telehealth. The current expansion builds on this successful “South ways Pathways Program” to offer treatment in many more public health offices across the state. Their hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekends.
