Five officers from the Silver City Police Department have been promoted following a comprehensive testing and interview process. Patrol Sergeant Arthur Rascon has been elevated to the position of Administrative Lieutenant. Officer Andrew Little has been promoted to K-9 Corporal, while Officers Cameron Graves and Stephen Laramore have each been promoted to Patrol Sergeant. Additionally, former Corporal Fernando Cardoza has advanced to the role of Detective.
The Fort Bayard National Cemetery is seeking volunteers to assist with flag placement in preparation for its 2025 Memorial Day Commemoration Ceremony. Volunteers are asked to gather on May 24 at 8 a.m. at the rostrum across from the committal shelter within the cemetery. The Memorial Day ceremony will be held on May 26 at 10 a.m., featuring keynote speaker Hugh F.I. Tuller of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA/JPAC). Flag removal is scheduled for the following morning, May 27, at 8 a.m. Community members are encouraged to participate in honoring the nation’s fallen service members.
Hidalgo Medical Services (HMS) CEO recently awarded Animas High School graduate Haley Elias the 2025 HMS Healthcare Scholarship. In addition, certificates were presented to 2025 graduates Berenise Garcia, Makayla Harrington, Angel Pintor, and Journey Sheehan in recognition of their successful completion and participation in the HMS Student Healthcare Internship. Throughout the program, the student interns gained valuable experience across various areas of healthcare, including nursing, dental services, family support, finance, operations, and healthcare governance.
