The City of Bayard announced that it has acquired the 675-acre Foy Property located north and west of the city and has annexed the land into municipal boundaries, including areas on both sides of Highway 180. The city has launched a comprehensive planning process that includes community input, market research and site analysis to identify development opportunities that are both feasible and aligned with local priorities. To guide the effort, the city has engaged national economic development and design firms Better City LLC and Urban Design Associates. The Silver City Gospel Mission has launched Pantry to the People, a new mobile pantry program designed to bring food directly to neighborhoods across Grant County. Using a refrigerated van provided by Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico, the Mission aims to serve elderly residents, individuals with limited transportation, and busy families who cannot attend its morning markets. This initiative allows the organization to meet community members where the need is greatest, delivering food directly to residents who are not able to come to the Mission.

The 2026 county election season will officially begin Tuesday, March 10, when residents of Luna, Grant, Hidalgo and Catron County may file declarations of candidacy for public office.
