A Hot-In-Place Recycling (HIR) project will commence along US 180, just west of Silver City, starting Wednesday, April 2nd. HIR is an innovative process that involves the use of a specialized machine to recycle 100% of the existing asphalt. This process removes the asphalt, crushes and rejuvenates it, and then re-applies it to the roadway, enhancing the flexibility and quality of the material. Traffic will experience lane closures between mileposts 87 (Riverside) and 110 (approximately 2 miles west of Silver City). The project is expected to be completed by May 31st, weather permitting.
