The Bayard City Council postponed for a second time a vote on proposed amendments to the city’s emergency abatement ordinance during a meeting, opting instead to hold an additional workshop scheduled for April 7. The ordinance, which aims to allow the city to quickly address properties posing immediate threats to public safety, requires further review to clarify authority and procedures, particularly regarding whether judicial involvement is appropriate. Officials emphasized the need for a streamlined process focused on emergency situations. The council also unanimously approved several routine items related to staff training and conference attendance.
