The Silver City High School Football Team recently volunteered their time to help clean fire hoses for the Silver City Fire Department. After the major fire on Rodeo Road, members of the football team came together to support our local firefighters by making sure the fire hoses were clean and maintained properly to help keep them in top condition for future emergencies. Thank you to the firefighters and the football team for helping take care of the community.
The Santa Clara Action Committee is bringing back their “Music in the Park” and “Movies in the Park” events this summer. All the fun begins tonight, June 14th with the first music in the park event beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Viola Stone Park in Santa Clara and will continue every Friday evening until June 28th. There will be food, dancing, music and more. The first movie in the park will take place on June 15th at 8:30 p.m. at Viola Stone Park. All events are free and open to the public.
Western New Mexico University is working to expand the state’s nursing workforce through its School of Nursing and Kinesiology. The university offers both BSN and MSN programs and also offers an accelerated RN to MSN option. In addition to the nursing programs, WNMU offers programs in Phlebotomy and Certified Nursing Assistant, and is looking to expand into other much-in-demand health care workforce training, such as Pharmacy Technician. The university’s nursing programs continue to grow and are helping students become better prepared for the medical field.
Come join Silver City’s Pick It Up-Toss No Mas for their June Community Cleanup tomorrow, June 15th. Those interested in volunteering are to meet at the Grant County Community Foundation parking lot at 9:00 a.m. Trash bags, gloves, snacks and t-shirts will be provided to first time volunteers. New Mexico restaurants are invited to apply for a chance to compete and win the prestigious title of “New Mexico State Fair’s Original Green Chile Cheeseburger Champion”.
