The non-profit organization, El Refugio Inc. is wanting to remind all Grant County residents that they provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week along with emergency shelter to victims of domestic violence. Shelter is provided to men, women and children who are experiencing domestic violence and seeking safety. El Refugio’s mission is to help empower all persons affected by domestic and sexual violence by providing advocacy, education and services in a safe and supportive environment. Congratulations to Gila Regional Medical Center staff members Tammy Drew and Fredina Rogers who received certificates of recognition for the years of service to the hospital. Ms. Drew was recognized for her 5 years of service in the registration department and Mrs. Rogers for her 20 years of service in infusion services. Both ladies were awarded certificates for the hard work and dedication they provide to not only the hospital but their patients.
The New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration’s Federal Grants Management Bureau in collaboration with the New Mexico Councils of Governments, the USDA and the New Mexico Congressional Delegation will be hosting a free, in-person workshop on new funding opportunities available under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and CHIPS. The workshop, which is open to local governments, tribal governments and state agencies, will take place on September 27th from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Grant County Veterans and Business Conference Center. The Village of Santa Clara is reminding its residents that construction crews are still working on numerous construction projects on Bellm Street. They are currently working on replacing water lines, installing new sidewalks and resurfacing the street. Road closures will continue along Bellm and surrounding streets and construction is expected to be completed sometime in the beginning of next year.

PNM Resources, a parent company of PNM, has given over half a million dollars to PNM to help establish the PNM Summer Heat Bill Help Fund. The bill was created to help customers who have high energy bills and offers more flexibility to income-verified customers struggling to pay their electric bill.
