The Grant County Art Guild was joined by town officials for a ribbon cutting at their new Annex located at 106 East Market Street in Downtown Silver City. The expanded location will be used for art guild meetings, activities, and educational outreach into the community. In addition, the annex space can be rented to non-members as a multi-use facility. According to a news release, starting in November the space will be rented to individuals for an Artisan Market to be held each Saturday from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

September is National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. The New Mexico Crisis and Access Line is encouraging the public you to download the “NMConnect” smartphone app designed for all New Mexicans to close the gap by engaging people with immediate access to mental health professionals and resources. Key features of the app include:

  • Direct connection to a counselor or peer support worker
  • The ability to directly text a peer support worker
  • Access to current resources for substance abuse, mental health services and other community resources
  • Receive up-to-date information on the state response to COVID-19

The New Mexico Crisis and Access Line is funded by the State of New Mexico and answered every day of the year by Proto-Call Services, Inc., the nation’s leading provider for specialty telephonic behavioral health services.

The deadline for Organic producers and handlers to take advantage of available federal funding to assist with he cost of receiving or maintaining “Organic Certification” is November 1st.  The U. S. Department of Agriculture’s Organic Certification Cost-Share Program is dedicated to the ongoing education, support and promotion of all new and continuing New Mexico organic operations and can be reached by visiting online at https://www.nmda.nmsu.edu/organic-program .
