Visit Las Cruces has partnered with some southern communities to form the Scenic Southern New Mexico outdoor initiative and photo contest from now to November 8th. To enter the photo contest, participants can visit any of the outdoor spaces, restaurants, breweries, wineries, shops, local businesses, or hotels in participating communities, take a photo and post it to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #ScenicSouthernNM. Prizes will include gift certificates, passes to outdoor attractions, a hotel stay, and more. The communities participating in this initiative include: Alamogordo; Cloudcroft; Deming; Elephant Butte; Silver City; and Truth or Consequences. The Grant County Treasurer has announced to property owners that the 2020 property tax bills will be delayed due to the state law allowing school districts a mill levy question on the November election ballot. In addition, the tax amounts cannot be determined until after the election and whether the mill levy question passes or fails. The adjusted Grant County tax bill dates are:
- Mailing of property tax bills on December 1st, 2021
- Payment due date on December 10th, 2021
- Final due date without late penalties and interest by January 10th, 2022
The Gila National Forest offers a seasonal tree permit that allows you to cut a Christmas Tree within the designated areas of the Gila National Forest. The permits will go on sale November 9th.
