Members of the Silver City Regional Association of Realtors held a coat drive to benefit children attending the El Grito Head Start Center in Silver City. The 40 coats were collected during the month of September to coincide with the Realtors® Are Good Neighbors Volunteer Days event. Yesterday, the coats were presented to Misty Pugmire, Executive Director of the El Grito Head Start Center. Thank you to the Silver City Regional Association of Realtors for supporting the kids and young families of Grant County.
The annual Grant County Toys for Tots campaign kicked off this week and will be collecting donations of new unwrapped toys throughout the area at various locations. The group of volunteers is also collecting monetary donations that will be used to obtain toys from wholesale distributors. Parents and guardians who live in Grant County may request a toy for their child by going online to silvercity-nm.toysfortots.org and click on the “request a toy” pull down menu. Applications will be accepted until November 15th. The toy distribution event is scheduled for December 18th at the Santa Clara Armory.
Due to the expansion of COVID vaccinations that now include booster shots for those who received the Pfizer vaccine, the HMS Silver City and Lordsburg COVID clinics have adjusted their processes to include appointment registration that will better serve the public. HMS vaccination appointments for the vaccination or booster, can be obtained online to the New Mexico Department of Health at C V dot HMS-nm.org. Vaccination appointments include 9 A.M. to 11:30 A.M and 1 PM to 5:30 PM weekdays based on availability. In addition, HMS is offering all three types of vaccines–Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J. Registration online through the New Mexico Department of Health will help the process. For more information, including clinic locations, go to hms- nm.org. HMS is also offering COVID testing and at this time. Testing services are available through a walk-in process Monday through Friday 9 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. and 1 P.M. to 4 P.M.
