Silver Regional SASS in collaboration with The Lotus Center, and PFLAG is presenting a screening of the film titled “The Wisdom of Trauma”, featuring Dr. Gabor Mate on Wednesday October 26th at the Silco Theater in Downtown Silver City. According to a news release, “The Wisdom of Trauma is a power guide to the world of trauma. The film weaves personal stories with Dr. Mate’s unique approach to healing trauma and illness in the context of powerful social critique.” The doors will open at 6:30 and the presentation will begin at 7:0 P.M. In addition, there is a $10 suggested donation, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Early voting for the midterm election is currently underway at the Grant County Clerk’s Office located at 1400 Highway 180 East in Silver City, Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The location will also be open on Saturday, November 5th. Starting this Saturday, the Bayard Community Center will be open for early voters from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. and continue from Tuesday October 25th through Saturday, October 29th and Tuesday November 1st through Saturday November 5th. Voters can still request an absentee ballot application by mail, telephone, online at N M Vote dot org or in person at the Grant County Clerk’s Office. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is November 3rd.
Tomorrow in Deming there will be a food distribution event at Luna County Courthouse Park. The distribution will be drive-thru style with one food box allocated to each family. Residents must have children living in the home to qualify and the line starts at 4:30 P.M. This event is made possible by Play Sharity, the City of Deming, Save the Children, and Luna County.
