The New Mexico Department of Health has launched a new COVID-19 booster eligibility tool located online at vaccineNM.org. Users must click on the blue bar and click on the “Am I eligible for a booster?” box on the right. By taking the short questionnaire, an individual can determine their eligibility for the Pfizer booster in a matter of minutes and schedule an appointment if eligible. The page also answers frequently asked questions about the booster.

The Annual Dia de los Muertos event in Silver City will be holding off another year for the street festival and parade due to COVID-19. There will be the Blessing of the “Ofrendas Procession” starting at 3:00 P.M. November 2nd that will share via Facebook Live as well as in person. According to a news release, in lieu of the parade, the group wishes to expand on the video made last year thanks to Zachary Aquino and other participants. Today, October 1st marks the first day of the Kiwanis Club of Silver City’s new year. A new member addition is Bre Anne Springer, who will serve as club Vice-President. Be Anne has been a volunteer in the Kiwanis family of service clubs since high school, serving as Cobre Key Club President and then to WNMU by serving as CKI President. The Kiwanis Club of Silver City celebrated their 75th Anniversary in August and continues to work with area youth by mentoring leadership skills and contributing to community service. Membership is open to anyone who wants to make a positive impact in Grant County. The club meets every Tuesday at 12 Noon at their building located at 900 Silver Heights Boulevard.
