The New Mexico Department of Health released updated COVID-19 case numbers that showed 3,658 new cases statewide and a 7-day positivity rate of 12 percent. Locally, the current new cases are as follows: Grant County with 75 new cases; Luna County with 31 new cases; Hidalgo County with 4 new cases; and Catron County with 1 new case. In addition, the report states that there are 559 individuals hospitalized for COVID-19 statewide, which may include patients who tested positive for COVID-19 out of state but are currently hospitalized in New Mexico. This number does not include New Mexicans who tested positive for COVID-19 and may have been transferred to a hospital out of state.
PNM and the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department have partnered to create the “Duffels with Dignity” project aimed at providing children in foster care throughout the state with new duffel bags filled with personal care items. PNM crews and CYFD staff shopped at local Walmart locations for the personal care products that included toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap and much more. Each duffel bag also includes a handwritten note of encouragement such as, “Even people you don’t know are proud of you!” and “You are a treasure!”
The Southwest Solid Waste Authority has announced their Thanksgiving Holiday Hours of operation. The Silver City and Tri-City Transfer Station will be closed this Thursday November 25th and Friday November 26th. The Cliff Gila/Mimbres/Hachita Transfer Stations will be closed this Thursday, November 25th. In addition, the Silver City Landfill and ALL it’s transfer stations will resume regular hours on Saturday, November 27th.
