At the time of compiling this report, the New Mexico Department of Health, announced a total of 81,896 New Mexico COVID-19 confirmed positive cases statewide, and increase of 2,468 new cases. In addition, COVID-19 cases recorded locally are as follows: Grant County increased 20 new cases for a total of 434 positive cases; Luna County increased 49 new cases for a total of 1,794 positive cases; Hidalgo County increased 8 new cases for a total 166 total positive cases; and Catron County has increased 1 new case for a total of 33 positive cases.
Effective this Wednesday, November 25th at 6:00 P.M., the Tu Casa 24/7 Crisis Triage Center and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services, New Beginnings, will suspend services until further notice, although Tu Casa Outpatient Services will continue Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday’s 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. According to Dan Otero, HMS CEO, “the decision to make these changes was not taken lightly. The financial losses recently experienced within both service lines, when combined with financial losses across the organization, left us with no choice but to suspend these services until further notice.” According to Dr. Teresa Arizaga, Chief Mental Health Officer, “Clients from New Beginnings will be offered the opportunity to continue therapy through the HMS Mental Health Comprehensive Community Support Services (CCSS), and HMS Mental Health and Medical Services will continue to provide Substance Use Disorder services through Individual and Group Therapy, and Medication Assisted Treatment.” In addition, HMS has not furloughed or reduced staffing due to these losses and is doing everything possible to secure jobs through the Pandemic.
Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument announces that the national monument, including Cliff Dweller Trail with access to the cliff dwellings, will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The closure is in effect to allow employees and volunteers to enjoy the holiday with their friends and families. The park and Cliff Dweller Trail will open Friday, November 27, 2020 at 10 am. The closure will not affect Gila National Forest or Gila Wilderness trails or corral facilities.
