The United Way of Southwest New Mexico will host a presentation titled “ALICE in New Mexico,” on November 6th focusing on the financial challenges faced by working families across the state. ALICE, which stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, represents the many individuals who are vital to the community—yet struggle to meet basic needs. This presentation will feature the ALICE in New Mexico Data Report, which explores the economic hardships ALICE families encounter, from housing and healthcare to the broader implications for New Mexico’s overall well-being. The event will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Grant County Business and Conference Center.

The Commons: Center for Food Security and Sustainability reminds residents that the drive-up pantry previously held on the first Saturday and last Wednesday of each month in Silver City is no longer available. In its place, the Choose Your Own (CYO) pantry has expanded its hours and is now open every first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in addition to its regular weekly hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Residents who prefer to pick up a pre-packed box instead of shopping in the CYO pantry are encouraged to call 575-388-2988 or email info at the commons gc dot org in advance.
