The Village of Santa Clara Board of Trustees approved an Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan for 2026-2030 during their recent Town Hall meeting. The project will include upgrades to the Santa Clara Senior Center such as door and roll-up door replacement, two furnaces, a 40-gallon water heater, and kitchen equipment. The $175,000 project is scheduled to begin sometime in 2026.
Congratulations to Molly Healy who received the “Golden Ritual” award from The Preceptor Tau Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for her 50 years of membership and service to the organization. Mrs. Healy has been an active member for 49 years in various Grant County chapters, has served in many offices and committees and is always available to assist in any social, service and fundraising project. She has also dedicated her time as a volunteer at Gila Regional Medical Center, the Silver City Museum and the Grant County Chamber of Commerce. Thank you for your service to the community.
As a reminder, The New Mexico Department of Transportation District One along with Highland Enterprise Inc. will be continuing a maintenance operation project to place chip seal pavement on various roads in Grant County. NM 152 will continue to be closed utilizing the winter gates from milepost 40 to milepost 15 for the safety of the crews and the traveling public until tomorrow, May 21st. The Summer Reading Program at Marshall Memorial Library in Deming is getting ready to begin. Children of all ages can participate and enjoy stories, painting, a scavenger hunt, “Cat in the Hat” day, an end of the summer reading party and much more. In New Mexico News: New Mexico State University is celebrating National Wildfire Awareness Month, which helps shed light on the importance of communities coming together to raise awareness and reduce wildfire risks, by providing New Mexicans with resources that can help save their lives. The New Mexico State University College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences has recorded webinars and has provided other resources to help individuals learn how to be prepared for a fire. With much of this year’s fire season still underway, it is important that New Mexicans learn about safety protocols that can help protect land, livestock, homes and themselves.
