Brigadier General Matthew Henry, Air Commander of the New Mexico National Guard, recently visited Western New Mexico University (WNMU) to express his gratitude to the university community for its support during the Guard’s recent mission in response to the Trout Fire. As a gesture of appreciation, the National Guard presented WNMU with official unit patches and a framed photograph highlighting the diverse aircraft utilized throughout the Guard’s service history.
Grant County Elections is set to launch TextMyGov, a convenient text messaging service designed to improve communication with residents. Beginning July 14 the service will allow community members to receive important election notifications and easily access specific information by texting the county. Additionally, the system will soon offer 24/7 on-demand access to key election-related details—such as voter registration, sample ballots, polling locations, and more—by texting one or two keywords to the designated TextMyGov number.
Effective October 1, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will implement increased fees at the Datil Well Campground in Catron County. The fee adjustments are intended to help cover the costs of maintaining and enhancing campground facilities and infrastructure in response to a rising number of visitors. These changes were approved by the Southern New Mexico Resource Advisory Council following a thorough review and deliberation during its January meeting.
