Gila Regional Medical Center is expanding its security efforts with the purchase of the ZeroEyes weapons detection system, approved by the hospital’s Board of Trustees through a three-year, $65,000 agreement. The system will integrate with existing security cameras to detect visible weapons, including firearms and machetes, while alerts are verified by ZeroEyes staff before notifying designated emergency contacts and law enforcement. The technology is part of a larger safety improvement plan that also includes panic buttons, a visitor badging system, 24-hour emergency department security personnel, and staff training in de-escalation and recognizing volatile situations.
