The Town of Silver City has announced that The Warming Center will be open daily from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. through January 31st. The center will continue operations during extreme temperatures, offering a safe space for those in need. It is important to note that this is not a shelter, but a place to gather, enjoy a hot meal, and escape the cold. The Deming High School MESA Team will once again participate in the New Mexico Governor’s STEM Challenge 2025, where they will propose the creation of a Solar-Powered Technology Enhanced Community Center in Deming. Animas High School recently organized a trip to Santa Fe for 18 students, accompanied by several teachers, school leaders, and administrators, as part of the originally scheduled “Hidalgo County Day.” During the visit, the students participated in a private meeting with Senator Crystal Diamond Brantley, Representative Jones, Representative Romas, and other key officials from Hidalgo County. The event was designed to provide the students with an understanding of how government functions in Santa Fe, emphasizing the significance of government processes for individuals living and working in New Mexico, as well as the importance of having effective representation in state government.
