The Grant County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) has introduced a new Community Feedback Portal aimed at providing residents with a simple and accessible way to share their experiences and feedback regarding interactions with sheriff’s office deputies. Community members can submit comments by scanning a QR code displayed on informational flyers throughout Grant County. The initiative is intended to strengthen communication, recognize exemplary service, and address concerns early before they develop into larger issues.

The Town of Silver City announced that The Haven Winter Center, which had been operating at the former Silver City Recreation Center, has closed due to insufficient staffing and a lack of sustainable funding required to maintain safe operations. The Town will explore options to upgrade the building’s infrastructure; however, at this time, there is no alternative but to suspend operations until funding can be secured for adequate staffing, necessary renovations, and volunteer support. The Town of Silver City plans to continue working with local nonprofits, service providers, and regional partners to identify alternative resources and long-term solutions.

During a recent regular meeting, Mayor Lopez announced several upcoming infrastructure improvements planned for the Village of Santa Clara. The village will receive $933,000 for road improvements, which will be used for engineering work and the development of plans for identified roadways, including sidewalk improvements and construction extending to U.S. 180. In addition, water system upgrades will include replacing a holding tank, rehabilitating Well 3, and replacing the village’s shutoff valves. The village’s water tanks will also be repaired, cleaned, and resealed.
