In honor of “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day”, which took place on January 9th, The Silver City Police Department was invited to read stories to several classes at Stout Elementary School throughout last week. The invitation allowed them to not only read stories about how Police officers are helpful but it also gave the officers a chance to get to know some of the students on a more personal level.

In Deming News:

The Deming Police Department recently participated in a community food distribution initiative that fed approximately 2,000 Deming residents. During this event, which was coordinated by the non profit organization, Colores United, eleven officers collaborated with various organizations and volunteers to help distribute food boxes which were filled with canned goods, dry foods, fruits and vegetables. Thanks to the efforts of the organization, volunteers, donors and the Deming Police Department, 1,000 households were able to receive food boxes.

The City of Deming would like to thank the 20 Red Mountain Middle School National Junior Honor Society students who helped in cleaning up the Butterfield Trail Regional Landfill last month. The students volunteered their time and collected 45 bags of trash, making a significant contribution to the cleanliness of the landfill grounds.
