Aldo Leopold Charter School is seeking to maintain and improve Fort Bayard and is requesting community input to help guide restoration efforts. School representatives are asking residents to share their perspectives on what improvements or resources are most needed in the area. Community feedback will be used to inform future planning and restoration priorities at Fort Bayard. Those interested in participating can access the survey through the Aldo Leopold Charter School Facebook page.

The Village of Santa Clara approved several agenda items during its recent regular council meeting. The council authorized a 2025 nonexclusive franchise agreement with Comcast Cable Communications Management LLC to provide cable services, facilities, and equipment to meet the village’s current and future needs. Councilors also approved Resolution 2025-41, allowing the village to enter into a design funding agreement with the Interstate Stream Commission, the City of Bayard, and the Town of Silver City. The Village of Santa Clara’s next scheduled Regular Meeting is scheduled for January 22nd. 

The Quemado Ranger District of the Gila National Forest has successfully completed a planned prescribed burn at the Baca slash pit, located approximately two miles northeast of Quemado Lake. With the burn operation finished, the Baca slash pit has reopened for public use and is available for slash disposal. Members of the public are encouraged to dispose only of appropriate materials at this location, and anyone with questions regarding acceptable disposal items should contact the Quemado Ranger District office for additional guidance.

In these schemes, criminals gain unauthorized access to email accounts, monitor real estate transactions, and send fraudulent messages instructing buyers to wire closing funds to illegitimate accounts. Buyers and sellers are encouraged to take proactive measures to protect themselves, including independently verifying wiring instructions by contacting their title company using a trusted phone number, remaining alert to last-minute changes, and confirming receipt of funds immediately after a transfer is made.
