Silver Consolidated Schools will host a community meeting on April 16th from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. at Jose Barrios Elementary School to discuss ongoing efforts related to school consolidation. Superintendent Will Hawkins will present the committee’s initial work, outline potential scenarios under consideration, and invite questions and feedback from attendees. Community members are encouraged to participate in this important conversation about the future of the district.

During a Special Meeting of the Town of Bayard, the council approved several key resolutions aimed at advancing local infrastructure and community development. Among the approvals was the Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP), a necessary step for securing funding assistance from the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission (NMISC) through the New Mexico Unit Fund. This funding will support the development of an asset management plan and a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) for improvements to the town’s water system. Additionally, the council approved Resolution No. 7-2025 to apply for the New Mexico True Destination Forward Grant to support revitalization efforts at Union Hall, which will be referred to going forward as the Mine Mill.

Deming Public Schools is inviting community members to help shape the future of Wildcat athletics by participating in two brief surveys regarding the selection of the next varsity head volleyball coach and boys basketball coach. Community feedback will help identify the values and priorities that are most important to the Deming community as final candidates are considered for these key coaching positions.
