Future Forge Makerspace will be having a “Making a Desert Lasagna Garden” workshop this Saturday, May 6th. Lasagna sheet composting provides a way to plant instantly into a nutrient-rich bed that builds soil as plants grow. This workshop will be showing a modification of this technique that nestles garden beds into the landscape in order to conserve water and encourage healthier plants. This event will take place at 307 East College Avenue from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The workshop is free but donations will be gladly accepted. Online Master’s Degrees has ranked Western New Mexico University (WNMU) as one of its top schools for its online 2023 Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. They ranked the program’s overall quality, affordability and commitment to students’ success as compared to over 7,000 other accredited programs throughout the nation. The ranking also credited the university’s work to ensure costs remain low across the board for WNMU students.
The Deming Luna County MainStreet program is working on a project that has the potential to help improve the downtown district. This project will help attract tourists and increase foot traffic and Gross Receipt Tax. The Hidalgo County Conservation Corps is looking for youth to work as crew members this summer. Youth can get paid for riding mountain bikes, hiking, taking drone pictures and much more. There will be two 6 week programs, with the first running from June 12th to the 30th and the second from July 10th through the 28th.
