Silver City Mainstreet has been recognized as one of this year’s 889 nationally accredited Main Street programs by Main Street America and its partners. Silver City MainStreet’s performance is annually evaluated by New Mexico MainStreet, which works in partnership with Main Street America to identify the local programs that meet 10 national performance standards. Silver City Mainstreet responded to the COVID pandemic by connecting resources to merchants, initiated a gift certificate promotion to encourage take-out dining, implemented Small Business assistants programs, and continued the Urban Challenge Fun Run, among many other helpful business forward programs and projects.
The Silver City Farmer’s Market is featuring a Pop-Up Concert Series each Saturday. This weekend’s local musical artist is Angelica Padilla. The weekly music lineup has been created in conjunction with Western New Mexico University Cultural Affairs. The Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the corner of Pope Street and West College Avenue. In addition, there is a Wednesday Farmer’s Market at the Ace Hardware parking lot from 9:00 A.M. to 12 noon. At both markets, shoppers can use their EBT card and double their SNAP benefits with double food bucks to purchase more fresh foods. Learn more at silvercityfarmersmarket.info.
